Basil tea
Basil is delicious in pesto, but it is also a very beneficial plant; here it is simply used as a tea, to facilitate digestion. However, basil is reputed to help alleviate many conditions.
Basil can help in the case of a cold, of respiratory disorders, or kidney problems, or mouth infections. Apparently, a person can chew on a dozen basil leaves each day twice to help cope with stress. Basil can be even used as a toothpaste.

I’ve had to leave my basil plants for a few days without being watered. I’m hoping they survived. I’d love to cut some leaves and make tea when I return home!

The Indians use sacred basil or Tulsi in a tea with sugar & butter to treat sore throats. I’ve tried it and it works wonders. I even used to have a pot of Tulsi back in Tokyo and wish I had one here.
