Cappuccino and Cookies
June 1, 2009 • Category: Sweet Pastries
I don’t know about you, but I simply cannot resist the call of a frothy cappuccino and some top-of-the line crispy and buttery cookies next to it! So, I do indulge myself and on a daily basis! My friend Phoebe, who worked for Starbucks for years, taught me this little and simple trick: froth the milk, then place it in the microwave for a few seconds to get it billowy . The heat of the microwave make it swell up in seconds. Since I did not want to invest in a heavy-duty espresso machine, I ordered a milk frother for a few dollars online. I make my coffee with a filter and a plastic cone and then I froth the milk and microwave it for 20 seconds.
Here, I used 4 ounces of whole milk; I used the frother for a few seconds, then placed the milk in the microwave for 20 seconds or until the froth reached the top of the measuring cup. Now, of course, a good portion of it will deflate rather rapidly, so it is a good idea to use it immediately. Spoon it over your hot coffee and enjoy!
