Fish stew, Bahrain
July 1, 2009 • Category: Main Dish
This dish was amazing. I adapted the recipe to make it simpler in execution. I made the sauce ingredients in the food processor. I transferred the sauce into a pyrex dish, placed the fish steaks on the sauce and then baked the fish for about 20 minutes in a hot oven. Perfect and simple and absolutely delicious!
I used sea bass steaks. Made the sauce and cooked the steaks in the sauce. Simple and fast and scrumptious.
INGREDIENTS:
4 sea bass steaks
2 teaspoons of turmeric
4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced fine
2 Tablespoons of chopped or grated fresh ginger
3 medium onions, quartered
4 medium tomatoes, quartered
1 Tablespoon of chopped garlic, or mashed with a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of dried ground mustard, salt and pepper to taste
4 Tablespoons of fresh and chopped cilantro, for garnish
METHOD:
- Place all the sauce ingredients in the food processor. Process until all ingredients are pureed.
- In a baking dish, pour the 4 tablespoons of oil and the turmeric. Mix gently a few seconds then place the fish steaks on the mixture and let it absorb a few minutes.
- Add the sauce from the processor to the fish steaks. Bake in a 375F oven (hot) until the fish steaks flake easily when prodded with a fork or a knife, around 25 minutes.
Remove from the oven, garnish with the chopped cilantro .
