Nettle tea
October 18, 2012 • Category: Beverages
Nettle is a wild herb that stings; it grows everywhere and people pretty much leave it alone. It has however extraordinary properties and in the Shouf region in Lebanon, people forage it and make a distilled water with the leaves to drink as a tea with some hot water and a sweetener. Taste is like those minty throat lozenges, but once you add a sweetener it is quite good~
Nettle leaves are known to cure allergies and hay fever, much more so than the usual over-the-counter drugs. It is also reputed to fortify the blood, lower hypertension and arthritis; nettle leaves are a diuretic and can eliminate urinary diseases. Nettle leaves can help with dandruff and baldness. Nettle leaves decrease blood sugar, helping people with diabetes.

To make nettle tea, gather a few leaves (clean) and place in a mug; add 8 oz of just boiled water and soak the leaves for 10 minutes; drain and drink, with sugar to taste (or not).

Where can I buy nettle tea or this product in the image above?

Joumana Accad says:
@Chris I bought it in the Chouf region where I live most of the time these days. If unavailable in the US you can distill it yourself, if you dont have a distiller, you can try a method without distiller, by using a pot and setting a brick in the pot, like I did to make rosewater.https://www.tasteofbeirut.com/rosewater-homemade/
