Rahat Loukoum (Turkish Delight)
October 15, 2015 • Category: Mezze/Appetizers, Pantry, Dessert
I have been away from blogging for a while to tend to some pressing business back in Dallas. Now I am back and as usual, with my head brimming with ideas on meals, desserts, places to see, the list is nearly endless.
Since it is National Dessert Day today, how about some choice Turkish Delight or what is know here in Beirut as raha.ย I am making things easy for you by suggesting you get a good one, from a great pastry shop, or Middle-Eastern store. The favorite way for kids to enjoy it is encased between two plain cookies, like a s’more, Lebanese-style.
I do have a couple of recipes, one is posted in the site. A word of warning: It takes at least 45 minutes to make and one full day of resting. I am going to be testing it soon with agar-agar which I brought back with me to Lebanon from Dallas.

Joumana, I will be waiting for your new recipe for loukoum made with agar agar! I tried making loukoum once and it was a disaster! I will find your old recipe and maybe try it again. I love loukoum and could buy very good loukoum at our market in Nantes but now that we are in Chinon I am out of luck. So I may have to attempt it again.

I recently started to like Loukom, after having fresh-made Loukom in Europe at various Turkish and Syrian bakeries….And I am sure the Lebanese recipes are just as delicious, I am looking forward to trying it at home ๐
